Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZA) – The place to be in the UAE
Senior representatives from the Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZA) will visit Sydney next week to enhance and build on the United Arab Emirates’ strong economic ties with Australia. The visit will focus on the benefits of investing in Dubai, specifically DAFZA, and is organised by Dearin & Associates to promote business links and investment.
This is a timely opportunity; in 2011-12 two-way merchandise trade between Australia and the UAE was worth over USD 5.9 billion. Of this, Australian exports to the UAE were nearly USD 2.22 billion, while imports were nearly USD 3.73 billion, including crude petroleum imports worth USD 3.19 billion.
Jamal Bin Marghoob, Director of the Marketing & Corporate Communications Department, DAFZA says that
“As a facilitator of international trade, DAFZA actively works to attract Australian companies through various marketing activities. As a result, we have found that the number of Australia companies present in DAFZA has steadily increased, and there are currently nine Australian companies based out of the Freezone.”
Well-known Australian brands, including Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), Globally Fresh, and Barnetts Middle East, are currently based in DAFZA, which is conveniently located next to Dubai International Airport.
In addition to its prime location and attractive investment opportunities, international investors reap the benefits of dynamic growth through DAFZA’s tax exemption and foreign ownership policies.
Target sectors for DAFZA include:
- Freight & Logistics
- Food and Beverage
- Jewellery and Cosmetics
