“I wrote Camels, Sheikhs and Billionaires because I realised that there was a lack of information on the enormous business opportunities in the region and how to access them,” says Cynthia. “I wanted to demystify the culture of the region and take the reader through a step-by-step process of how to do business there”.

The MENA region is becoming more attractive to investors and exporters by the year. This $7.1 billion market for Australia’s merchandise, services and research accounts for over 70% of the world’s oil reserves and has a rapidly expanding population of just under 400 million people.

“No one knows the Middle East like Cynthia,” says Tim Harcourt, J.W. Nevile Fellow at the University of New South Wales and author of The Airport Economist and Trading Places. “The book is a practical, down-to- earth guide on modern business practices from Mecca to Muscat,” he says.

La Trobe University’s College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce is a leader in Australian tertiary education.  Cynthia Dearin teaches Islamic Commercial Law and Islamic Jurisprudence in the La Trobe Law School.
